Carrefour slashes prices on olive oil, alcohol and more this Black Friday
Carrefour supermarkets across Spain will offer a litre of olive oil for the bargain price of 5.99 euros
The biggest shopping week of the year is finally upon us. Black Friday falls on November 29 but for most of the major retailers in Spain, the mega sales will kick off on Monday November 25 and run through into Cyber Monday on December 2.
For most people, this is the ideal opportunity to get a head-start on their Christmas shopping and bag a few bargain presents, but it’s also a great chance to stock up on some of the essentials which tend to be a bit pricier during the year.
In honour of Black Friday 2024, supermarket chain Carrefour has announced an amazing deal on one of the grocery items that has shot up in price the most: olive oil. A staple item on most dinner tables in Spain, this so-called liquid gold has skyrocketed by more than 200% since January 2021.
But Carrefour is turning the tables on Black Friday and will offer a special discount on olive oil, which will retail at just 5.99 euros per litre.
And that’s not the only deal to be had. The supermarket giant commissioned its first ‘Study on Consumer Trends on Black Friday’ to get an idea of what shoppers are most likely to buy, and they’ve reduced the price on dozens of the most in-demand products.
Prawns, a very popular choice around Christmas, will be sold at only 7.89 euros per kilo, and there will also be 30% discounts on a selection of alcoholic beverages and 20% on hams, shoulders, beef tenderloins, smoked salmon and Christmas sweets.
The study also showed that technology and fashion products remain in high demand, with 48.5% and 47.1% of those surveyed planning to look for bargains on Black Friday. To meet this demand, Carrefour will offer huge discounts on QLED TVs, air fryers, handheld vacuum cleaners and smartphones, as well as 25% off a wide range of fashion items.
With almost 80% of the population set to hit the shops this Friday to do their Christmas shopping the shelves are likely to empty fast, so be sure to head out early to snap up those deals.
