Two British brothers aged 11 and 13 drown on a beach in Salou, Spain
Their father, who jumped in to save his two children, was rescued by the emergency services

Two British brothers aged 11 and 13 sadly drowned on the Platja Llarga beach in northeast Spain’s Salou (Tarragona) on Tuesday evening, July 29.
The father of the children, who had also entered the water with his children, was rescued alive, but the same was not possible for the boys.
The 112 emergency telephone number received the alert at 8.47pm on Tuesday, prompting seven medical units to be dispatched to the area, as well as a team of psychologists to attend to the family members.
It is not currently known how or why the two boys could have got into such trouble and drowned.
On the same day, a 54-year-old German tourist drowned on a beach in Cambrils, also in Tarragona.
So far this summer, 16 people have died on beaches in Catalonia alone, already five more than in the same period last year.
