Tourist plunges two storeys into fish pond at luxury Lanzarote hotel
The holidaymaker was rushed to hospital after a late-night fall at a five-star Playa Blanca hotel

A tourist is in hospital after falling two floors into an ornamental fish pond at a five-star hotel in Playa Blanca, Lanzarote, late on Saturday night, April 18.
Emergency services were called to the luxury H10 Rubicon Horizons Collection hotel at around 11,30pm, with firefighters and medical staff both attending the scene.
The man had fallen from street level down two floors into a shallow pond near the hotel's buffet restaurant. Despite being only around 15 inches deep, the pond is home to koi carp and terrapin turtles.
Paramedics had already fitted him with a neck brace before firefighters arrived, and he had to be carefully lifted from the water and strapped to a rescue board before being transferred to an ambulance. Local police and Guardia Civil officers also attended to assist with the emergency response.
He was taken to Molina Orosa Hospital in Arrecife, Lanzarote's capital, although his condition remains unknown. His age and nationality haven't been released either, and it's not clear how the fall happened.
The H10 Rubicon Horizons Collection describes itself as an iconic adults-only seafront resort with interiors inspired by the island of Lanzarote. The hotel declined to comment on the incident, citing guest confidentiality.
