New €5 beach bus from Alcantarilla to Mazarrón launches this summer
The new service to Bolnuevo will run alongside the existing summer route to Los Alcázares
Getting to the beach from Alcantarilla will be a little easier this summer thanks to a new direct bus service linking the town with the coast at Bolnuevo in Mazarrón.
The new route has been introduced by Alcantarilla Town Hall and will operate alongside the existing beach bus service to Los Alcázares, giving residents another option for a day by the sea.
Buses to Bolnuevo will run on Tuesdays during the summer season, departing from the Manila Café in Alcantarilla at 9am and returning from the Gredas de Bolnuevo parking area at 7pm.
Return tickets will cost €5, making it an affordable option for residents who may not have access to a car or other transport to the coast.
Each coach will have capacity for 50 passengers, along with spaces reserved for people with reduced mobility.
Tickets will be available online from Friday June 26 through the Giglon platform. From June 29, they can also be purchased in person at the Infanta Elena Cultural Centre in Alcantarilla between 9am and 2pm. The council has advised that card payments only will be accepted for in-person purchases.
The new service complements the beach bus already operating between Alcantarilla and Los Alcázares. That route runs on Thursdays throughout July and August, also departing from the Manila Café before returning from the CAR bus stop in Los Alcázares.
Councillor for Economic Development José Antonio López Olmedo explained that the initiative fulfils an agreement approved unanimously by the local council last year.
Town Hall officials say the aim is to make the coast more accessible during the summer months, particularly for residents who may otherwise struggle to reach the beach.
