Murcia weekend weather October 1-4: Heavy rain and storms bring cooler temperatures

AEMET has issued weather warnings for parts of the Region of Murcia as heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected from Thursday afternoon

It may be October, but temperatures will still reach 33°C in Murcia city on Thursday. However, heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected from the afternoon, particularly inland, before temperatures drop on Friday. Let's take a look at the daily breakdown:

Thursday October 1

Thursday will start cloudy, with showers and thunderstorms developing inland during the afternoon. Some could be quite heavy, particularly in the Noroeste and Altiplano.

AEMET has issued warnings for heavy rain and thunderstorms in the Noroeste, Altiplano and Vega del Segura from 2:00 pm until 11.59 pm. Up to 30mm could fall in one hour in the Noroeste, with up to 60mm possible over 12 hours in the Noroeste and Altiplano.

Temperatures will still be high, reaching 33°C in Murcia city, 31°C in Lorca and 30°C in Cartagena, Caravaca de la Cruz and Yecla. Minimum temperatures will range from 15°C in Caravaca de la Cruz and Yecla to 22°C in Murcia city and Cartagena.

Winds will be light at first, becoming easterly and moderate during the afternoon.

Friday October 2

Friday will be cooler, with overcast skies and occasional showers. Some could be heavy and accompanied by thunderstorms from midday, particularly in the mountains.

AEMET has issued a lower-level warning for rain and thunderstorms in the Noroeste and Valle del Guadalentín, Lorca and Águilas from midday until midnight. Up to 15mm of rain could fall in one hour in both areas.

Murcia city and Cartagena will reach 28°C, while Yecla will reach 26°C and Caravaca de la Cruz and Lorca 25°C. Minimum temperatures will range from 15°C in Caravaca de la Cruz and Yecla to 21°C in Murcia city and Cartagena.

Easterly winds will be light to moderate, becoming quite strong along the coast at times.

Saturday October 3

Saturday will remain very cloudy, with light rain expected across the Region, and the occasional thunderstorms possible.

Murcia city, Cartagena and Lorca will reach 28°C, while Caravaca de la Cruz and Yecla will reach 26°C. Minimum temperatures will range from 15°C in Caravaca de la Cruz and Yecla to 20°C in Cartagena.
Winds will be light and variable, with moderate easterly winds along the coast.

Sunday October 4

Sunday will be mostly cloudy, with occasional light rain and a chance of thunderstorms in the inland mountains. Murcia city will reach 29°C, with Cartagena and Lorca at 28°C and Caravaca de la Cruz and Yecla at 26°C. Minimum temperatures will range from 14°C in Caravaca de la Cruz to 20°C in Cartagena.

Winds will be light and variable.
