Child among seven injured as part of hotel roof collapses in Benidorm
The incident happened in the restaurant area of the Hotel Poseidon in Benidorm just after 2pm on Sunday

Seven people including an eight-year-old child were injured on Sunday April 5 after part of the roof collapsed in the restaurant area of the popular Hotel Poseidon Palace in Benidorm.
The incident was reported at around 2.20pm, with emergency services dispatching SAMU units, basic life support teams, non-assisted transport and Red Cross support to the scene.
Medical personnel treated five men and two women for minor injuries. The child and a 78-year-old man were assessed and released at the scene, while the remaining five, aged between 33 and 80, were transferred to the Benidorm Clinic and Marina Baixa Hospital for further treatment.
According to Joan Devesa, the general manager of the Poseidon hotel chain, when the roof caved in it dragged several air conditioning ducts and plaster onto the tables, chairs and dining room floor. The cause of the collapse is currently unknown, although a municipal architect has been dispatched to the site to assess the possible causes of the ceiling's detachment.
