You can now pay your taxes in Spain through Revolut
The online banking platform has now partnered with the Treasury in Spain

There’s no getting around it – banking in Spain can be quite expensive, fairly confusing and very frustrating at times. More and more people are turning to online financial platforms for their low fees, international applications and ease of use but on many of these internet banking apps, the basic accounts don’t allow residents to pay taxes.
Revolut is changing the way we bank in Spain and by the end of 2025, the online financial giant expects to have racked up six million customers in this country. But to become a leading bank and rival the long-standing physical institutions, Revolut realised it needed to make one important change. It has now partnered with the Spanish Tax Agency (AEAT), which will allow customers to pay their taxes through Revolut.
Specifically, it will be possible to manage both personal income tax (IRPF), VAT self-assessments and corporate tax payments, either by card or direct debit. This feature is already available to Business Pro users, but not on the basic Revolut account.
“This is a fundamental milestone for us in our strategy to become the leading bank," explained Eduardo Pérez Toribio, general manager of the Revolut Bank branch.
Once this change is implemented, the next step is to establish a partnership with Social Security so that users can receive benefits such as unemployment or retirement payments in their Revolut account.
Revolut is also finalising the details of a pilot program to launch a nationwide ATM network. The plan is to start in large cities like Madrid and Barcelona, then expand to other major cities and big towns. Once the ATMs are up and running, customers will of course be able to withdraw cash, but also enjoy some other handy functions like opening a bank account using a QR code.
In the last two years, Revolut has made great inroads by giving users a Spanish IBAN and integrating Bizum payments, which has been a turning point for the banking platform. One of the next challenges is attracting payrolls, a process they are exploring with incentive plans, as well as the marketing of mortgages, a decision that still requires approval from Lithuania (where they hold a banking license), Ireland and France.
Regarding savings products, Spain is one of the countries where deposits and interest-bearing accounts have performed best, with a volume of 1.47 billion and 1.5 billion euros, respectively. This combination should push the Spanish market to become Revolut's third-largest customer base behind the United Kingdom and France by summer, overtaking Poland and Romania.
