You can now pay to hold your private event on the Cable Ingles, Almeria
Find out how much it costs to get married or celebrate a private party on the Almería landmark
Fancy holding your private birthday bash overlooking the Mediterranean on one of Andalucía’s most iconic monuments? Want to get married outdoors in a venue you’ll never forget?
Now it’s possible as the Port Authority of Almería (APA for its initials in Spanish) has decided to allow private citizens to pay to book the Cable Inglés pedestrian walkway in the city for their functions.
Ordinarily, the jetty, which was built by a British mining company and originally used to load mineral deposits onto ships, is free to visit, although in the busy summer months there is a maximum limit to the number of people who are allowed in at any one time.
The Almería tourist attraction will still be free to visit and open to the public, except for those times when individuals have paid to reserve it for their own use.
Times and prices for booking the Cable Inglés
The Port Authority has enabled three possibilities of time slots that the Cable Inglés can be booked up, each one with its own prices.
- Hourly rate: 100 euros per hour
- Half-day rate (from either 9am-3pm or 4pm-10pm): 500 euros
- Full-day rate (9am to 10pm): 1,000 euros.
In this way, the Cable Inglés will be open to weddings, for filming projects for movies (of which many have been recorded in Almería province) and other non-profit events, providing they respect the essential rules of use such as the prohibition of smoking or the consumption of food and alcoholic beverages.
The rates may be updated by the APA on January 1 of each year.
How to book an event on the Cable Inglés
Anyone interested in reserving the Cable Inglés for their event must request it from the APA, either online or at their administrative building located in the port itself, at least 10 days in advance, once the new rule officially comes into force, which will be the day after its publication in the Official State Gazette (BOE) and to which it was submitted just over a fortnight ago.
