Tourism on the rise: 16 million visitors choose Andalucía in just six months
Most tourists stayed in hotels, spent more, and gave their trip a near-perfect score
Andalucía is having a strong year for tourism, with more than 16.6 million people visiting the region in the first half of 2025 - a 1.9% increase on last year’s figures.
The latest data, published this week by the Andalusian Institute of Statistics, show that over 10 million of those visitors came between April and June. Hotel stays were by far the most popular choice, with nearly 59% of tourists booking into hotels, while others opted for self-catering flats, villas or apartments.
Most visitors came for a holiday (83.5%), while smaller numbers travelled to see family, for business, or for other reasons.
Spanish tourists made up the majority of the spring-summer crowd, with 60% of visitors coming from within Spain, including 29% from right here in Andalucía. Another 29% came from the rest of the EU and just over 10% from further afield.
The average tourist stayed just over five days, with stays getting gradually shorter over recent months. Málaga remained the most visited province, followed by Cádiz, Seville and Granada.
Spending is also on the up, with the average daily amount rising to just over €86 in the second quarter - 6.1% more than the same time last year. Unsurprisingly, international visitors spent the most, averaging around €109 per day, while Andalusians spent roughly €75.
As for how people rated their trip, the results speak for themselves. Visitors gave their stay in Andalucía an impressive 9 out of 10, with Jaén, Seville and Cádiz coming out especially well.
