Murcia Corvera Airport winter flight schedule 2024-2025: See all destinations
Five airlines are running flight connections with a total of nine cities this low season
The Region of Murcia International Airport has released its scaled-back flight roster for the autumn/winter low season 2024-25, and this time around there will be nine flight destinations connecting with Murcia.
During the summer flight season at the airport in Corvera, which finishes at the end of October, there are always more options for flight destinations due to the increased demand by holidaymakers. This summer, there were 24 regular flight routes to and from Murcia Airport.
When the high season ends and there are fewer tourists, the number of available flights going in and out of Corvera Airport is reduced.
Corvera Airport kicks off its winter season 2024-25 with flights to nine cities spanning across Spain, Ireland, the United Kingdom and Morocco.
Starting from the last weekend of October, when the summer season ends, five airlines will maintain connections to the Region of Murcia.
These include Spanish airline Volotea, which maintains its domestic connections to Madrid and Barcelona, and Binter.
There will also be three companies maintaining international routes – Ryanair, easyJet and Air Arabia.
The autumn and winter season begins on October 28, 2024 and will last until March 29, 2025.
How did Murcia Airport fare in summer 2024?
The stats for the number of passengers coming through the Region of Murcia International Airport in the summer of 2024 was modest, to put it mildly. Aena reports that Corvera registered an increase of 2.3% in the first nine months of the year compared to the same period in 2023. However, in the month of September 2024, 2,068 fewer passengers passed through its facilities than in 2023, and in August it barely gained 819 more people. These figures are still below those obtained before the pandemic.
The new connections with Marrakesh and Porto were the two great new flight connections of the summer at Corvera Airport. Ryanair opened the route to the Moroccan city with two weekly flights, which will continue this autumn.
Last summer it was also possible to fly for the first time from Murcia to the Portuguese city of Porto. This connection was established by the company Soltour by means of charter flights, which had a weekly frequency.
Soltour also arranged several one-off charter flights this summer to various European countries including Slovenia and Albania. More extraordinary flights are being organised to Turkey and Egypt this December.
Which flight destinations are being kept for winter 2024/2025?
In terms of international routes, Ryanair will be flying to Manchester, Birmingham and Dublin. Ryanair will not be flying to London Gatwick, as was initially reported.
However, what Ryanair will have is flights to Marrakesh in Morocco, a route that was established last spring and will continue in the winter months.
As Ryanair’s spokeswoman in Spain, Elena Cabrera, announced last July, the company had established this new destination from Corvera with the intention of maintaining it in the low season months if it was successful, which it has been.
Meanwhile, the airline Air Arabia will continue to fly to the Moroccan city of Oujda, which is located near the Algerian border.
This company had flown during the summer months to Casablanca, but will not be keeping this route for the winter.
The one and only flight route being operated by easyJet at Murcia Airport this winter is the connection with London Gatwick Airport.
TUI Fly’s flights to the Belgian cities of Bruges and Antwerp, which the company had brought back this summer after a hiatus, will disappear.
As for the domestic flight routes within Spain, Binter is keeping its flights to Gran Canaria on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, allowing connections with the rest of the Canary Islands.
Volotea’s routes to Madrid and Barcelona will also continue on Mondays and Fridays. However, the Volotea flights to Asturias, Santander, Bilbao and Menorca will all be discontinued until next summer.
These are essentially all the same regular flight routes there were out of Corvera Airport for the autumn-winter season 2023-24, with the addition of Marrakesh.
For airlines to decide they want to put on more flights and add new destinations at Murcia Airport, they have to be able to see that there is sufficient demand to make those routes financially viable.
While these are the nine fixed destinations that have been slated for flight connections with Murcia for the start of the winter season, airlines could decide at any moment that they want to add a new flight route, so anyone hoping for specific routes to be added is advised to contact the airlines they think are most likely to operate them.
