May 10 Free bird-watching walk in the Moratalla countryside
Learn elementary bird species identification close to the small village of Benizar
The town of Moratalla in north-west Murcia is currently holding its annual spring Lavender Festival, “Lalavand 26”, and one of the events being organized is this bird-watching tour of the Rincón de las Cuevas in the village and outlying district of Benizar on Sunday 10th May.
This route is enjoyable even for those with very little knowledge of the world of birds as participants discover what they can see and here in the still air of the countryside, while for those who are more expert there is a chance to take part in a bord census: last year more than 60 different species were detected during the course of the event , including the blue rock thrush, the black redstart and the Eurasian nuthatch!
Apart from sightings, stress will also be placed on the ability to identify birds merely by their calls and song.
Further information and registration for the excursion on 10th May, which begins at 9.30, are available by email at descubriendomoratalla@gmail.com.
