Lomas de Cabo Roig Today
Lomas de Cabo Roig is close to several blue-flag beaches on the Orihuela Costa

Today, Lomas de Cabo Roig is a bustling and vibrant district in Orihuela Costa, but the area was virtually untouched until the early 1960s when domestic and international tourism exploded along Spain’s east coast.
Full of bars, restaurants, shops and supermarkets, Lomas de Cabo Roig has everything to meet your daily needs right on your doorstep, and other services such as medical centres and banks, are only a stone’s throw away.
Situated around 2 kilometres from the popular beaches of neighbouring Cabo Roig and Dehesa de Campoamor, Lomas has become a thriving community for Spaniards and expats alike who want to settle in a slightly less touristy spot. Dozens urbanisations have sprung up over the years, ranging from modern apartments and town houses to luxury villas, and the area is a virtual melting pot of different cultures.
How to get to Lomas de Cabo Roig
Lomas is very central for travellers and is serviced by two airports. Murcia’s Corvera can be reached in around 45 minutes along the A-P 7 motorway and it takes just under an hour to get to Alicante airport on the N-332, which is currently not a toll road.
The popular districts of Cabo Roig, La Zenia and Campoamor are all within walking distance, but the absence of a pedestrian footbridge on the busy main road leading out of the area can be off-putting for many.
There is a bus stop located at the Overseas supermarket (locally just referred to as Iceland) with stops at all of the surrounding districts.
Lomas de Cabo Roig Commercial Centre

Before building started on the commercial centre in 2019, entertainment in Lomas de Cabo Roig consisted of one short but lively ‘strip’ of bars and restaurants with several other pubs dotted here and there.
Now, the strikingly modern Lomas de Cabo Roig shopping centre boasts a total of 27 commercial premises on two floors with huge outdoor terraces, a tastefully decorated common area and plenty of parking.
If you’re hankering for some home comforts, the Overseas supermarket is just a short stroll away on Calle Cantábrico. Open from 8.30am to 9pm Monday to Friday and from 9am until 6pm on Sundays the store is an official stockist of Iceland and Waitrose products.
What to do in Lomas de Cabo Roig

While the district is situated inland there are several blue-flag beaches located right on its doorstep. It’s probably a bit far to walk if you’re carrying deck chairs and other supplies, but the stunning sands of Playa la Caleta, Playa de la Zenia and Cala Capitán can all be reached in less than ten minutes by car.
The Orihuela Costa is a golfer’s dream and Lomas de Cabo Roig is the ideal base to take full advantage of some of the country’s best courses. Las Ramblas Golf and Las Colinas Golf & Country Club are both located in nearby Dehesa de Campoamor while Campo de Golf Villamartin, one of the most established courses in the Valencian Community, is just a ten minute drive away.
If it’s nightlife you’re after then you won’t have to travel far, as Lomas boasts dozens of popular bars and restaurants serving cuisines from across the globe including Indian, Mediterranean, Icelandic, Belgian and British.
In the heart of Lomas you’ll also find an older commercial centre on Calle Cabo de Palos, where several pubs and eateries are grouped around a central car park. Most of the year the bars club together and stage live music events here.
The main commercial centre has a couple of lovely boutiques and clothes stores but if you want to shop til you drop then head to Zenia Boulevard Shopping Centre, just a 7 minute drive away.
