High-speed train tickets between Murcia and Madrid go on sale this week for just €9

Low-cost train operator Ouigo has also announced a new daily service between the Region and the Spanish capital

Budget high-speed train operator Ouigo is launching a massive autumn sale this Thursday October 9 at 10am, with one-way journeys between Murcia and Madrid starting at just €9.

The cut-price tickets will be valid for travel between December 14 this year and August 2, 2026.

The French company is also adding a new daily service, boosting capacity by 50% compared to 2025.

From mid December, Ouigo will run six trains daily between Madrid and the Region of Murcia, three in each direction, significantly improving connections between the Region and the Spanish capital.

This extra morning service from Murcia del Carmen station leaves at 6.35am, while the new evening train from Madrid Chamartín departs at 6.45pm. These join the existing services, which run from Murcia at 12.39pm and 8.30pm, and from Madrid at 8.15am and 4.15pm.

All trains stop at Elche and Albacete, and four of the services also call at Alicante.

The journey between Murcia and Madrid takes around three hours. Ouigo runs high capacity trains with 509 seats across two levels and when operating double deckers, this increases to 1,018 seats. The company now provides roughly 14,000 seats per week on its Murcia services.

Ouigo recommends booking early to secure the best prices. Standard tickets from mid December start at €9. Children aged 4 to 13 travel for €7, while under 3s go free if they sit on an adult's lap.

There's also a "Time to Think" option for €2, letting you reserve your journey and lock in the price for up to a week.

Ouigo trains feature XL seats 30% larger than standard, an onboard cafeteria and the company is the only operator that compensates passengers for delays of more than 30 minutes.

For extra flexibility, the OUIGO FULL package includes two additional bags, an XL seat, access to the OUIFUN entertainment platform and unlimited changes or cancellations with refunds available up to 30 minutes before departure.

Tickets go on sale Thursday through the Ouigo mobile app or website.
