Flu and Covid vaccinations now available in Murcia for over 60s
The Murcia Regional Health authority has announced that people over 60 years of age can now receive this year’s flu and Cvoid vaccinations
Murcia’s Regional Health authority has announced that, from October 14, people over 60 years of age can receive the flu vaccine at their health centre along with the seasonal dose against Covid-19. From that date, people at risk such as pregnant women and health professionals and essential personnel will also be vaccinated through its Occupational Risk Prevention services.
XEC, the new variant of Covid that is present in Spain, has the national Ministry of Health considering whether or not to reintroduce obligatory coronavirus protection measures, such as wearing facemasks in certain indoor spaces.

The seasonal vaccination campaign against respiratory infections (flu and seasonal dose of vaccine adapted against covid) in the Region of Murcia has also begun in residences for the elderly and for people with disabilities. Some 7,400 users will be immunised and also more than 6,600 social and health workers in these centres.
To receive the vaccinations people registered with the regional health service (SMS) should make an appointment through the SMS website or the appointment app by clicking on “Cita vacuna estacional” (“Seasonal vaccine appointment”) where the choice of flu or Covid or both vaccinations can be selected. Appointments can also be made by calling in or phoning the local health centre.
The general population people wishing to receive a flu vaccination will be able to do so at their health centre, doctor’s surgery or usual vaccination point approximately in December.
Pneumonia and shingles
In addition to the flu and Covid vaccination campagn, the health service asks healthy people who are 65 years of age or older or who have risk pathologies should take the opportunity to review their pneumococcal vaccination. And those born in 1944, 1958 and 1959 are advised to review their vaccination against shingles, as long as they have not yet received the vaccine.
