Camposol waste collection point to be cleared and opened for garden waste only
Mazarrón Council meets Camposol Business Association with information about how the garden waste collection point will operate

The Camposol Business Association have been given information at a recent meeting with Carmen Navarro, the Mazarrón Councillor for Camposol, and a senior council cleansing operative regarding the plans for the garden waste collection point on Sector C of the Camposol urbanisation.
The original plan, after the fire at the facility on December 12, 2025, was to close the site completely until arrangements could be made for a collection routine for the the waste to be organised, this was deemed to be problematic as the probable outcome would have been that, until CCTV surveillance could be arranged, waste would be dumped outside the entrance to the facility, creating a new set of complications.
The Council are now planning, on the week commencing January 19, to start clearing the waste and to install a solar powered camera on the street light on the roundabout adjacent to the site which will provide 24-hour surveillance directly to the Town Hall department. They will also erect a sign giving details on how the site should be used. In addition, the sign at the entrance of the B Sector car park which refers to the C sector site will be altered accordingly.
After the CCTV camera is installed, the site will be closed and locked until the staffing problem is resolved. Until then, all garden waste should be taken to the municipal Ecoparque y Centro de Gestión de Residuos, situated on the Mazarrón to Águilas road around 2 kilometres from the roundabout at the southern end of the RM-3 motorway.
The facility will solely be utilised for the disposal of waste garden vegetation by homeowners of the urbanisation. This waste should be deposited inside the fenced off area. Old furniture or other articles should no longer be dumped at the site or around the recycling and household waste containers. Persons abusing the new facility and picked up on the surveillance camera can expect to be the subject of fines from €6,000 to €12,000.
For disposal of unwanted furniture, appliances or other bulky equipment the free home collection service should be used by phoning 0034 968 333 294.
The collection point has proved troublesome since it opened in July 2025, the original plan being for the site to be operated by the Council’s waste and cleansing concern, Bahía de Mazarrón Ingeniería Urbana 2007, with manned opening hours.
However, problems with staffing and then a question over the concern’s future, which is still to be resolved, resulted in the facility being left open all hours and without management, the consequences being a ‘free for all’ with no operational control and suspected waste being brought in from outside the urbanisation and possibly outside the municipality.
