Aguilas presents the image of its spectacular 2025 Carnival!
Irina Cazorla presents a phosporescent poster to represent the 2025 Águilas Carnival!
Most of the western world is now focussing on the upcoming Christmas and New Year festivities, but in Águilas, in the south-west of the Region of Murcia, preparations are already being made for the annual Carnival which takes place next year in late February.
This weekend the official poster for the festival was unveiled by the Town Hall was presented by local dignitaries at the Museo del Carnaval, accompanied by David Caparrós, president of the Federación de Peñas del Carnaval, and the artist Irina Cazorla. Her deisgn features an unusual technique which uses oil paint on canvas with odd details such as a sewing machine, silicon pistos and a mask disguise substituting the "V" of the word Carnaval. The scene also includes the four main protagonists of Águilas Carnival, all set against the bacground of the Bay of Poniente.
But the most surprising aspect of the poster was revealed when the lights were dimmed in the Carnival museum and the phosphorescent paint used shone in the darkness!
Carnival celebrations are now held almost everywhere in the Region of Murcia but those in Águilas are by far the most spectacular, the best attended and the most important. For this reason there is even a museum devoted to Carnival and its costumes and traditions which can be visited all year round!
In the meantime, though, the Águileños can now focus on Christmas, the New Year and Three Kings!
